It might be around 16bhp.

I'm sure the excuse making game, for not buying R15, will soon start, once Yam officially declare the tech specs.
Some of the excuses will be:
- Oh, just 16bhp.
- Oh, just 150cc.
- Oh, bike look so small.
- Damn, 1+L.

PS: How about starting a poll on the excuse list? ;-)

Hey guys finally Yamaha is bring its most awaited Bike Yamaha R15 To India.

India is one of the biggest market in terms of 2 wheelers. till now in the History Initially Yamaha with RX100 then Hero Honda with Splendar and then Bajaj With its revolutionary Pulsar 150 CC has dominated the Indian Roads. These bikes were famous because of its Looks, comforts and specially Because of it Cost and Milage. But with Yamaha R15 Figures are some what different.
Yamaha R15 is the Bike Which will give raw power with excellent Handling and Superb Styling. Its developed on the Footsteps of Yamaha R1 which is one of the best bikes world wide.
The only thing tht matters Yamaha R15 is its price which is some where around 1,10,000 INR (varies from state to state). And the Hike in the Petrol prices which will affect the most to the popularity of the bike at the time of its launch and initial stages.

its actually 16 bhp.

Not more than 18PS. Yamaha wouldnt try to push more from a 150 in an attempt to meet future Euro3 Stage1 for 2-wheelers. else they will have to reduce power at that point of time.. which means, it has a negative marketing impact as it will be less powerful than outgoing model! So they might push out 18... but since its a hi-revving engine, the peak power doesnt really matter... i hope it has good mid range torque!

Compression ratio: 10.0:1
Maximum power: 11PS(8.0kW)@7500
Maximum torque: 10.4N.m@6500

Specs of Yamaha R-125
as seen at
http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/products/motorcycles/supersport/yzf-r125.jsp?view=techspecs
Bore x stroke: 52.0 x 58.6 mm
Compression ratio: 11.2:1
Maximum power: 15PS(11.0kW)@9000
Maximum torque: 12.24 Nm@8000
Source http://www.superbike.co.uk/news/Yamaha_R125_2008_test_from_SuperBike_magazine_news_198667.html
Top Speed : 76mph (122 kph)

Specs of Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Maximum power: 20PS(14.76kW)@8500
Maximum torque: 19.12 Nm@6500
Top Speed (Magazine Reviews): 127 kph??

If the 220 is at 20PS has a top whack of marginally higher than the R-125 then it really seems possible that the R-15 could easily have a higher top speed considering Yamaha's capabilities and a more powerful engine. That would automatically translate to higher power figures of 20+. Are the PS and the bhp ratings equivalent.

I'm not thrilled at all 'coz it's too short for tall guys like me(5 11'')

Yamaha has finally come out with some thing intresting and something unique to think upon. It has finnaly launched its Mos awaited bike Yamaha R15. I have seen Yamaha R15 Images and trust me look wise it is awesome. Many blogs and Forums are also giving Yamaha R15 specification and also they are listed on their special sites. have gone through R15 Specification and wht i found is it is most disapointing to see tht this bike is priced such a high. The Cost of this Bike is 1,10,000 which is too high depending upon the CC and the BHP tht the Bike Provides, although the Bike provides the world best part for maintaining its Racing Gear it cant cross 40,000 more then the normal 150cc bikes

I've already seen 4 R15's in Bangalore even before the official launch!! It's around 1.3L onroad. It's quite small in size and the rear type is very thin when compared to the Pulsars. Don't really know abt safety while braking. Btw It's looks awsome!!

The bike is not formally released by Yamaha Philippines, so the dealers are selling the bike at 230k. The bike is priced way to high for a 150cc engine. I'd rather buy the Honda CBR 150 priced at 130k, which performs almost the same.
