Buying a new bike: Useful link
Check this site out. Seems to have a pretty detailed checklist of what to look for when you pick up your latest bike from the showroom. Also has some tips on run-in etc.

how abt a post or link on buying a second hand bike??....don't tell me abt the BIKE INDIA article pls....
whoa!! ur quick...
Some doubts...
this being India, can we check so many details before taking delivery of our bike? What usually happens while buying a new bike is we select a bike and the dealer takes our signature on all his documents even before we take possession of the bike. And then there is the registration formalities after which only we can actually ride the bike (time lag of about a week).
About the running part - how de we know that the dealer hasn't actually ridden the bike. About chaning the oil and oil filter - this can be done by us - no dealer is going to do this for us on a new bike on day 1 or day 2 (free or paid).
I don't mean to be critical and do agree that the concepts are a good guide, but still...
