How rearset handles the rain

rearset or caughtilyaSomeone asked how I manage in the rains. Okay, while I will review them in detail later, my daily luggage consists of a Cramster Turtle, a Cramster Elemental and a One Polar bum bag (The red bum bag, centre top row;similar to the Cramster Hippo, but a wee bit larger). Inside (usually) will go the spare lid for The Wife (she travels back with me on most days), my rain suit (Prince brand, PVC, Rs 300, bought new every season), lunch, her rain jacket, my 60Gb iPod, my phone, USB cables for iPod and phone, FastTrack goggles in box (not used much since I got the dark visor).

In the morning, I will usually bungee The Wife's FieldSheer Mag 1 jacket, My Joe Rocket Ballistic waterproof gloves, a large plastic bag, my waterproof overshoe and multitool (wrapped in the One Polar and Elemental) to the rear seat, and the rest goes in the tank bag. In the evening, once The Wife dons her kit, the tank bag is all the luggage I have on the bike. Oh, and my trusty two-litre CamelBak HotShot goes under my riding jacket with a courier bag style sling arrangement. Phew! Yes, that much kit and stuff does make the daily trip a fairly planned sort of thing. Most cinema theaters would not permit me inside, so the bike stays home on those days. Also off-bike are days when the evening plan is to hit the pub. If I ever have to leave the bike at the office and pick up another one from home or any such, I will usually fill the average Mumbai cab to the roof with kit... I'm OCD, I already told you that...

Impressive. This makes me wonder again. Whether you are an Aquarian. Because you are quite a planner.

Well normally I tend to do the same too. Plan as much as the dosh that I have earned allows me to and keep as much ground covered.

NASA just called, they want their astronaut back...

but seriously, that is a LOT of equipment!!! at the end of reading it, i could just visualise this...
'suitable hollywood flick (armageddon), hero (with the face blurred out, since i don't know how u look) putting his kit on and does the 'march' to the bike (a la armageddon) hops on, rides the wind and rain, reaches theatre and is told, "sorry sir, u have excess baggage"'

Me thinks, if i ever see you on the road, i will have instant recognition.

I doubt there is anybody else in bby who rides with so much on. :)

Cheers...

@batfan
Aquarian? You a friend of Linda's? Planning, though, is where it is at.

@Nyctophobia
Ha ha. I got kicked out of NASA because I wanted two sets of all equipment. And not because I wanted one set in reserve either... The Armageddon bit sounds cool, though. Rearset walks in slo mo to rousing musing, slight heat haze, steely, piercing look behind dark visor... Until the theatre attendent throws the spanner, that is...

@hrishi
There are at least two more people I know who come pretty close. No, make that three... four... oh crap, I've thought of more than a few already... five. Really

Linda, Who?

Right you are. Planning is where it is at.

Well I can anyway instantly recognize you wherever you are because I know who you are. It's ot a big trade secret. Is it. I thought all the people here already knew you. Anyway the Easter Egg helped :)

Not quite there yet, but close, with Cramster Stallion and Turtle, jacket, helmet, assorted electronics, phones cables. Come to think of it, the Stallion could just barely hold all the gadget junk!

Wave at the Cramster-laden green RD next time :)

okay time for questions ;)
Apart from the cramster stuff where is everything else available..all imported?
BTW prince raincoat sounds like a deal @ 300..where to pick it up from ?
Hmm you dont carry small plastic bags to protect your cellphone/wallet ? try doing that ..easier then keeping the wallet in some backpack..

@Arpan

Prince Raincoat: I usually buy from Glory in Four Bungalows. The shop comes on your left if you are heading from Juhu Versova Link Road side to Lokhandwala side, just before the intersection...wait let me try to get you a wikimapia link...

Other stuff: All purchased on the net from newenough.com, brought to India by returning relatives

Wallet/Phone: In plastic bag, but in tankbag (don't like the distraction of having the phone buzz while I'm riding). Take money out of wallet for fuel when needed in advance and put in the mesh pocket of the Turtle...

i know glory...bought my school uniforms from there :)
Thanks for the tip

rearset said...

I give up. I can't get you a wikimapia link. However, search for Anupam Farsan Store in Four Bungalows, Glory should be somewhere there...
